I do not think this is a Tomb Sentinel, as they usually are not officers, but rather enlisted soldiers. This may be the commander of the 3d US Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard).
You are correct – he is not a Sentinel. Thank you for catching that error. I *believe* he is Capt. Jeffrey Clarkson, the HHC 1/3 Infantry Company Commander, but I did not have an opportunity to get his name. As I was walking down the path, the press escort said, “Don’t walk past the Sentinel,” so when I wrote the caption, I think I just automatically put it in. Thanks again for catching that!
